Wonderland Fun Park welcomes touring rollercoaster enthusiasts
Melbourne's Wonderland Fun Park has hosted a group of 41 international rollercoaster enthusiasts.
The Docklands based family amusement park welcomed the US group during their recent rollercoaster tour of Australia, with the group riding the park's Whacky Worm junior coaster.
Tour organiser Robb Alvey said it was the ambition of some within the group to ride every rollercoaster in the world, stating "a lot of people with us want to ride every roller coaster in the world.
"It doesn't matter whether the coaster is 100 feet tall or not. If there's a roller coaster out there then we have to ride it."
Alvey runs rollercoaster tours all over the world but this is the first time he had brought coaster fans to Australia.
Fully operational since February 2010, Wonderland Fun Park offers nine rides and a 200 seat theatre.
Aimed at families and children from ages three to 12, the amusement park is free to enter and has a capacity of 500. It operates at weekends and during school holidays when it features free entertainment programs.
Park Managing Director Colin Davis explains that "it was great to welcome this fanatical group of rollercoaster riders. Each member of the group rode the ride onece and we were very happy to host them."
The group arrived directly from Melbourne Airport and went on to Luna Park Melbourne.
