Wet’n’Wild’s first Chinese waterpark to open before the end of 2016

Wet’n’Wild Haikou, China’s first Wet’n’Wild water theme park, has been scheduled to open in the fourth quarter of 2016 following a joint partnership agreement between Mission Hills China, the Guangxi Investment Group and theme park owner and operator, Village Roadshow Limited.

Set to cost approximately Yuan 497 million (US$78 million), the waterpark is scheduled to open in the fourth quarter of 2016.

The 50,000 metre²  Wet’n’Wild Haikou, including an 8,000 metre² indoor waterpark, is located within Haikou’s 100 hectare Mission Hills Centreville featuring Mission Hills’ Lan Kwai Fong, a leisure complex with restaurants and bars, shopping, entertainment and cultural elements.

Hotel brands such as Ritz-Carlton, Renaissance and Hard Rock Hotels will also be part of the development as well as Mission Hills’Huayi Brothers Feng XiaoGang Movie Town, a film-themed tourism district.

The new waterpark, developed by Mission Hills Group and operated by Village, will be a destination water theme park, similar to  Wet’n’Wild Gold Coast, Wet’n’Wild Sydney and Wet’n’Wild Las Vegas.

Water Technology Inc will be the lead water park design and technology consultant. WhiteWater West Industries, designer and manufacturer of water park products, will supply the attractions.

Commenting on the venture, Village Roadshow Theme Parks (VRTP) Chief Executive Tim Fisher stated “our involvement in the Wet’n’Wild Haikou project and future operation of the park represents significant reward and recognition of VRTP’s branding and world-class capabilities.

“We look forward to working closely with Mission Hills Group ... to deliver a world-class destination water theme park to the people of Haikou, its many tourists and of course, all of China.”
