Wet'n'Wild Sydney cancels New Year's Eve event

Ticket-holders have reacted angrily after a planned New Year's Eve festival at Wet'n'Wild Sydney was cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice.

Citing a "a major technical production issue", event organiser One Cube Entertainment advised ticketholders of the cancellation on the Wet'n'Wild Sydney website and Facebook page this morning (Tuesday 31st December).

A statement from One Cube Entertainment advised "we have made the very difficult decision to postpone our New Year's Eve event at Wet'n'Wild Sydney", adding "this decision is in the best interest of our patrons due to some last minute production issues."

The festival, with tickets ranging from $110 to $200, was to include music acts as well as access to the park's rides. It will now be held on Australia Day.

However, with the event largely sold out, ticket-holders have reacted angrily to the last-minute announcement which leaves them only a short period of time to arrange alternative ways to celebrate the arrival of 2014.

One Cube Entertainment say they will contact current ticket holders with additional information about the new event.

Wet'n'Wild Sydney has sought to distance itself from the cancellation, saying the venue was hired by an external promoter.

The event setback would appear to be a minor hurdle in Wet'n'Wild Sydney's operations, with the new waterpark having been a massive success since opening on 12th December.

Over the Christmas holiday period the waterpark has reached capacity on several days while Village Roadshow co-Chairman and Chief Executive Graham Burke has praised the attraction's "triumphant" start.

Burke recently stated "we couldn't have got off to a better start both in terms of ticket sales and phenomenal reaction from our customers.

"The standout has been the night time shows with both families and teens rocking under the stars."

The waterpark has also constantly featured in the Sydney media since its opening.
