Wahooo! Waterpark set for Bahrain opening

The makers of Ski Dubai, the world-famous indoor snow resort, are set to open a 15,000 metre2 indoor 'aqua-park' in the heart of Bahrain.

Wahooo! Waterpark Bahrain will offer a mix of slides, chutes and rising rapids within a temperature-controlled waterpark â operating at 30 degrees Celsius all year round. Among the many attractions will be a 'Flowrider' surfing wave, a 190 metre 'Masterblaster Rollercoaster', a four-lane 'Matt Racer' that loops around the outer edge of the waterpark, and a lazy river.

Wahooo! Waterpark Bahrain is located within Bahrain's largest shopping mall, the Bahrain City Centre .

Damien Latham, General Manager Wahooo! Waterpark Bahrain explains, "Wahooo! has already generated a lot of excitement across the region (and it) promises to be an exciting new addition to Bahrain's leisure offering."

The company promises international standards in water treatment and swimming safety with all of Wahooo's lifeguards will be certified by the internationally recognised Royal Life Saving Society UK (RLSS).

Dubai-based Majid Al Futtaim Group, have been at the forefront of tourism destinations and ground-breaking retail projects for over a decade. Their latest mall, the Bahrain City Centre, first opened its doors in September
2008 and has proved a massive hit with international and Arabian Gulf visitors to Bahrain.

Craig Hart, Vice President, MAF Leisure said, "from the outset, this project was always going to be something very special for Bahrain and for the rest of the Gulf. Bahrain City Centre has already proved to be a tremendous success and will continue to be a major force in the local economy."

Ticket prices for the attraction will cost less than 10 Bahrain Dinars (AUS $30) with Latham explaining that "anyone under 1.2 metres in height will pay BD 6 ($18) while toddlers below three years-of-age can come in for just BD 3 ($9).

"These ticket prices represent exceptional value, as guests will be able to enjoy unlimited access to the park for a whole day to make use of the countless facilities and amusements on offer."

Latham also alluded to special community rates being introduced at a later date, once Wahooo! has been fully operational for a few months, stating "we intend to introduce additional ticket price rates in the future once we have established which days are peak days and which days are quieter.

"We expect to include periods that will be set aside for certain members of the community, such as times during the day when ladies will have exclusive use of the park."

Wahooo! will also be a 'cashless environment' with rides, food and beverage outlets, and its retail shop-Wave Pro using RFID writsbands, where the preferred amount that a guest wishes to spend in the waterpark can be loaded onto a wristband at the entrance.

The RFID wristband will allow visitors to use all the Wahooo! facilities by simply presenting their RFID wristband and it can also be used to operate lockers, hire towels or use body dryers.
