WA Sports Federation issues Election Policy Platform to keep the State active

In advance of the Western Australian election that will be held Saturday 11th March 2017, the WA Sports Federation has issued its Election Policy Platform.

As the peak industry body representing sporting organisations in Western Australian, WASF is calling on all sides of politics to provide better access for all Western Australians wanting to participate in sports and active recreation.

Launching the WASF’s 2017 Election policy platform, Chief Executive Rob Thompson said there were more than 780,000 members in over 6,000 sporting clubs in the State, an increase of almost 200,000 over three years.

Thompson said the WASF had consulted widely with their members and key stakeholders, and was calling on next State Government to prioritise sport and active recreation through:

• Restoring and improving the Community Sporting and Recreation Facilities Fund;
• Guaranteeing sustainable funding from TAB and Lotterywest; and
• Increasing the amount of green space available in metropolitan Perth
