VMA heads west for latest 'After Five' event
The latest of the Venue Management Association's (VMA) 'After Five' events is to be held in Perth on Thursday 18th August 2011.
The event, being held at the WA Basketball Centre in Mt Claremont is being hosted by Steve Harper, Director - Venue Operations, VenuesWest and will feature Patrick Pierce, Perth Arena Project Manager at VenuesWest, speaking about the Perth Arena Project.

Patrick Pierce became involved with the entertainment industry back in 1972 as a bookings and event coordinator for entertainment in one of London's oldest pubs, the White Hart Inn. In 1975, Patrick returned to Perth and found work as a Sales Representative for Comalco Aluminium. A career highlighted by his appointment as Project Coordinator for the supply of three aluminum masts for Australia III's defense of the America's cup in Fremantle in 1987.
During this time he also worked for eleven years at the Perth Entertainment Centre in the capacity of Front of House Coordinator.
Pierce then joined the Entertainment Department at Burswood International Resort & Casino, working for the next 20 years in a number of roles such as Events Manager for both the Showroom and the SuperDome, Burswood Dome Manager, Entertainment Manager and Director of Entertainment. He was involved in the construction handover, commissioning and set up of the Burswood Showroom, and the Burswood SuperDome.
In his time at Burswood, Patrick has been responsible for the operational success of over a thousand events, functions, exhibitions, sports events, entertainment acts and production shows, highlighted by Mick Jagger, The Hopman Cup, Perth Auto Show, The Boat Show, the BMX World Championships, Phil Collins, The Crusty Demons, Rod Stewart, Aida, Andre Bocelli, Christine Aguilera, John Farnham, Michael Jackson, U2, the Black Eyed Peas, Coldplay, Kylie Minogue, Mama Mia, Grease, Phantom of the Opera, and We Will Rock You.
In 2008, Pierce commenced work on a part time basis with VenuesWest as a Perth Arena Project Consultant. Over the past two and a half years his involvement has grown to that of Acting Project Manager, Acting New Venues Director and now Perth Arena Project Manager.
The function starts at 5.30pm and is expected to conclude by 7.30pm.
