Village Reveal Sydney Wet 'n' Wild plans

Village Roadshow has revealed plans for its Western Sydney Wet 'n' Wild waterpark to Blacktown Council.

At a meeting last week, a confident Village Roadshow Director Clark Kirby told councillors "I can say quite confidently that this is going to be the best water park in the world.

"It will provide a very definite gap in the NSW theme park and tourism landscape."

While most councillors offered their support to the development, questions were raised about the the retention of the heritage value of the NSW Government-owned Prospect site. Meanwhile, industry insiders have questioned the 50-year lease deal for the land agreed in private between the NSW

Government and Village Roadshow, and the rezoning of the previously rural-zoned land for recreational use.

Wet'n'Wild Sydney will be built on a 25 hectare site off Sydney's M4 and M7 motorways. 1.2 million residents living within 20 kilometres of the site.

With plans to be open in time for summer 2013, the waterpark will feature rides with the latest waterslide technology. Highlights will include one of the world's biggest man-made beaches and the nation's first surfable wave pool.

Other attractions will include :

• Two lazy river attractions - the first featuring a standard river in addition to a river rapids loop and an 'extreme river';
• WhiteWater West dueling master blaster tube slides;
• Shark Lagoon - teen activity pool;
• WhiteWater West Whizzard six-lane mat ride;
• Two spa locations - a hot spa pool and a starfish spa pad;
• WhiteWater West Family Boomerango;
• WhiteWater West Family Python slide;
• WhiteWater West Giant AquaPlay structure;
• Platypus toddlers pool;

• Pretzel - two WhiteWater West AquaLoops;
• Six inner tube slides with WhiteWater West Super Bowl;

Village Roashow predict the waterpark will attract up to 900,000 visits each year.
