Victorians Turn out for Royal Show
As the Royal Melbourne Show draws to a close today, Victorians have confirmed their support for the Stateâs longest running community event with attendance up 15% on last year.
Approximately 500,000 people experienced the best of the country in the city at the 11-day event leading Mark OâSullivan, Chief Executive of the Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria (RASV) to explain that the 11-day event has exceeded expectations.
âThe strong crowds at this yearâs Royal Melbourne Show are testament to what the RASV sets out to do each year, which is to provide Victorians with unique and memorable experiences for the entire family.
âThis year, we focused on providing visitors to the Show with great value for money and high participation numbers in the new, interactive activities on offer at the Show highlights that this has been well received by the public.?
Every day of the Show featured a full schedule of activity and one day was just not enough for some punters. An increased number of visitors took advantage of the Bounce-Back ticket offer and returned for a second day out at the Royal Melbourne Show.
The animals maintained their reputation as a perennial favourite with more than 10,000 animals on show, including alpacas, cats, dogs, cavies, poultry, horses, cattle, sheep, goats, rabbits, pigeons, ferrets.
Other Show-stopping performances included the Racing and Diving Pigs, Animal Wranglers, Chook Washing, Duck Herding, NAB Animal Discovery Farm and the The Snakeman Stage Show.
Crowds again flocked to the Woodchop Pavilion to witness the action, including the Australia versus New Zealand Test Series, where the âgreen and goldâ won all three tests to take out the Series.
