Victorian Government plans look at venues reopening from 26th October
The Victorian Government has released an outline of plans for the reopening of entertainment venues with its Coronavirus easing ‘roadmap’ to keep venues shuttered until at least 26th October.
In line with proposals to ease restrictions on aquatic centres, fitness clubs and sport centres, the state’s Roadmap for Reopening requires live events to remain closed throughout the first two steps of the plan.
According to Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews, Melbourne will remain under Stage 4 lockdown measures until 28th September, with some relaxation from 13th September, including a later curfew of 9pm, instead of 8pm.
On 26th October, Victoria, which has been recorded more than 700 of the nation’s 794 Coronavirus deaths, will move into Stage 3 of its restart plan if cases remain low, which will permit outdoor entertainment venues to reopen with capacity restrictions in place.
The final stage in the plan will see indoor and outdoor venues open with density quotient and patron caps on 23rd November, provided the state has no new cases for 14 days.
The last phase will see the capacity for public outdoor gatherings rise to 50 people and large events will be treated on an individual basis based on “requirements and epidemiology” at the time.
Victoria will then move to a ‘Covid Normal’ status when there have been no new cases for 28 days (state-wide), no active cases (state-wide) and no outbreaks of concern in other states or territories.
This move will lift all restrictions, meaning all entertainment venues can reopen with “safety measures and record-keeping” in place.
