Victorian and WA events highlight importance of water safety
Upcoming events in both Victoria and Western Australia will be aiming to promote water safety messages to the public.
In Western Australia, Royal Life Saving Day on 7th November will see volunteers all over Perth wearing Royal Life Saving and raising funds for the not-for-profit group.
Money raised will be used to fund Royal Life Saving Society Western Australia activities.
In Victoria, Aquatic and Recreation Victoria (ARV)'s Water Safety Week 2014, being held from 29th November to 6th December aims to promote water safety messages and engagement to the community across metropolitan Melbourne and throughout regional Victoria.
ARV will be using an educational, fun and innovative approach to directly engage over 500,000 Victorians.
ARV will also be promoting the ‘Play it Safe by the Water’ campaign, now in its 15th year, that continues to receive very positive support from local government, the aquatic and recreation industry, the YMCA of Victoria, affiliated YMCAs, Belgravia Leisure and the media.
Opening and closing events for Water Safety Week will be held at Hargreaves Mall Bendigo and Federation Square Melbourne respectively.
In a recent communication to aquatic and recreation centres across Victoria, ARV wrote “please encourage all centre members and staff to attend one or both of these celebration days.”
During the two days, 500 show bags will be distributed to all individuals passing through the event as well as there being mascots in attendance to interact with children.
