VICSWIM Summer Kidz set for season launch

The new VICSWIM Summer Kidz program is set for its official season launch.
Under threat at the end of the last season, the program has successfully secured the financial support of the Victorian Government - at a cost of $1.6 million over four years.
It aims to increase participation and access to valuable aquatic education and water safety skills for children.
It will receive its season launch by Victorian Minister for Sport and Recreation and Veterans' Affairs Hugh Delahunty, Minister for Sport and Recreation and Veterans' Affairs at the Seymour Sports and Aquatic Centre, Pollard Street, Seymour at 2pm on Tuesday 4th October.
There will be plenty of colour and movement as the Minister officially declares the online enrolments for the January 2012 program open and many eager young children take to the Centre's pools to go through their paces as part of a special VICSWIM Summer Kidz lesson.
Aquatics and Recreation Victoria Chairman Andrew Hocking explains "this is a wonderful opportunity to showcase this valuable community aquatic education and water safety program and to ensure with the Government's help, at just $25 for five 40-minute lessons, just about everyone can afford to give their kids these life saving skills."
The VICSWIM Summer Kidz program runs across Victoria in a variety of pools and open water locations over three weeks in January and is designed to align with both the educational goals of schools and to promote the key Play it Safe by the Water messages.
Online enrolments begin from today (Monday 3rd October 2011).
