VICSWIM 'Summer Kidz' Exceeds Expectations

VICSWIM has reported that the first week of its Summer Kidz program has surpassed all expectations, with extra teachers and classes required in several locations to meet demand.
Speaking about the re-launched community aquatic education and water safety program, Aquatics & Recreation Victoria Chief Executive Ian Swan stated "with the support of the Victorian Government, enrolments are up nearly 45% on targets for this yearï¾s January program.
"This is a very pleasing result following the cancellation of last yearï¾s program because of the increasing financial burden that was being placed on ARV, as a not for profit body, to keep the program afloat. "
The Victorian Government is supporting the VICSWIM Summer Kidz program so that parents and carers can be offered essential and life saving aquatic education and water safety lessons for their children at only $25 a week. This is less than half the previous price.
The program which is running for three weeks from the 9th to 27th January, is also supported by ARV's media partners; The Sunday Herald Sun, The Nine Network, Network Ten, Southern Cross Ten, Star FM and Triple M.
The VICSWIM Summer Kidz program is a unique and respected learn to swim program that has been operating since 1976. It is currently running at over 85 pools and open water venues across the state in both metropolitan and regional areas, offering additional employment to over 120 AUSTSWIM qualified VICSWIM Summer Kidz teachers.
