VenuesWest manager wins Western Australian Achievement Award
VenuesWest Venue Operations Coordinator Jamie MacKenzie has won the Western Australian Achievement Award for Young Leader of the Year from the Institute of Public Administration Australia (IPAA).
MacKenzie won the Award for his significant contribution to the management of the Champion Lakes Regatta Centre – with this being the third consecutive year that a member of the VenuesWest team has been recognised as a winner in the IPAA WA Achievement awards.
In 2013 Nicki Eastman and Diane Misic won the award for Human Resources Manager of the year while Aquatic Manager Jabin Herd also received a special commendation in the category of young leader of the year.
In 2012 Ingrid Hawkins won the award for Chief Financial Officer of the year.
Congratulating MacKenzie on this receipt of the Award, VenuesWest Chairman Graham Partridge stated “this is an incredible accomplishment for one of our valued staff members to receive such an honourable award.
“These awards show VenuesWest consistently employs high quality employees, who significantly contribute to delivering premier venues to our customers.
“During his time at VenuesWest, Jamie has demonstrated initiative and leadership as he successfully realigned the operational policies and procedures of the Champion Lakes Regatta Centre to the VenuesWest venue portfolio.
“Jamie has brought a wealth of experience and knowledge to his role at VenuesWest and has implemented a qualified customer focus to a landmark WA sport and recreational venue.
“He has also successfully planned for and managed a number of high profile events at the Champion Lakes Regatta Centre including: National Sprint Kayaking Championships and National Duathlon Championships, State Championship Rowing, Kayaking, Dragon Boating, Open Water Swimming and Cycling events, large scale commercial events such as the Telstra Series Triathlon (Armadale event) and Summer Splashdown.
The IPAA WA Achievement Awards recognises individual and organisational excellence within the public sector. There are a total of 15 Awards, 10 open to individuals and five best practice awards for organisations.
VenuesWest is Western Australia’s provider of premier sports, recreation and entertainment venues and its portfolio includes the new and world class Perth Arena and the redeveloped nib Stadium. Recently the Western Australian Government confirmed that the new Perth Stadium would join the VenuesWest portfolio when completed in 2018.
These are in addition to HBF Stadium, HBF Arena, WA Athletics Stadium, WA Basketball Centre, Midvale Speeddome, Perth Motorplex, Champion Lakes Regatta Centre and the WA Rugby Centre, with the State Netball Centre and the Western Australian Institute of Sports High Performance Service Centre currently under construction.
