Vale: Mark Magennis
The Australian Business Events Association has acknowledged the achievements of Mark Magennis, co-founder and former Chief Executive of Decorative Events and Exhibitions, who died on 8th October at the age of 49 from an aggressive prostate cancer.
Mark was outstandingly creative in business as well as in delivering exquisite events - including corporate events, exhibitions and also weddings.
The DE&E brand was known for its high end style and imagination. Mark was a driving force behind the company which serviced some of the biggest companies and brands in Australia including Commonwealth Bank, American Express and Sydney Opera House.
In 2018, he was joint recipient of the EEAA Unsung Hero Award which was presented at the association's Awards for Excellence held at ICC Sydney.
He was a generous contributor to the industry peak bodies including both the Exhibition and Events Association of Australasia (EEAA) and Meetings and Events Australia (MEA) as well as major charities including Ronald McDonald House.
In recent years, Mark relocated to beautiful Bellingen on the mid-north coast of NSW in order to focus on his health and create a new life. It was to be his final home.
His death at age 49 has shocked the events industry. His charisma and talent drew many to him for Mark had an extraordinary capacity to help his clients shine.
