URBNSURF event limits spectators based on advice regarding Coronavirus

Surfing Victoria has advised that due to the rapidly unfolding situation regarding Coronavirus (COVID-19) they will be limiting all spectators from the URBNSURF 2020 Melbourne Pool Party scheduled for Sunday 15th March 2020. The event will allow essential persons only onsite - this includes competitors, staff and event partners.

This decision has been based off advice from the Australian Chief Medical Officer who has recommended events that have over 500 people not go ahead.

Surfing Victoria Chief Executive Adam Robertson advised “with the unfolding situation around COVID-19, the health and safety of our staff and competitors is of utmost priority.

“We did not make this decision lightly and limiting the amount of people on site from the general public will reduce the risk to all competitors and staff.”

“We encourage all competitors and staff who are feeling unwell or have symptoms of the virus to not attend the event and contact us immediately.”

Surfing Victoria staff will continue to monitor the situation and make any necessary changes moving forward.

The 2020 Melbourne Pool Party is presented by URBNSURF, and supported by Surfing Victoria, GLOBE, ONE Agency Surf Coast, The Perfect Wave Travel Co, SurfBetterNow.com, Kings Cars, Coastalwatch, Shed9, South Coast Surfboards and Cancer Council Sunscreen.
