TTF welcomes NSW Government’s $91 billion vision to enhance tourism landscape

Tourism & Transport Forum (TTF) Australia has welcomed the NSW Government’s bold, new target to propel the NSW visitor economy to $91 billion by 2035.

The NSW Government’s vision to enhance the state’s tourism landscape was unveiled yesterday, as part of the government review of the NSW Visitor Economy Strategy.

TTF Chief Executive Margy Osmond enthused “It’s fantastic to see such an ambitious plan to ensure tourism remains one of the key drivers of our economy. We need strong leadership and big ideas to attract visitors from around the world and I’m hopeful this strategy will position the state as a premier global tourism destination.

She noted the need for an additional 40,000 hotel rooms, boost aviation capacity and dedicated effort to address workplace shortages.

“We stand ready to work with the government to tackle these challenges and ensure that NSW can deliver the world-class experiences that visitors crave,” she said.

Osmond praised the renewed focus on delivering interactive experiences, taking visitors beyond the Harbour Bridge and Sydney Opera House adding “NSW has so much to offer. From Sydney’s unique wellness culture and early morning activities to the mouth-watering food and spectacular landscapes across regional areas, we have an opportunity to give visitors the adventures they’re looking for and to elevate the quality of those experiences.

“We are particularly excited about the emphasis on celebrating First Nations culture and promoting authentic visitor experiences. This not only enriches their travels but also helps to showcase the rich tapestry of the state’s heritage.”

“With the right support and investment, NSW can meet these targets and set a new global standard for tourism excellence. We look forward to collaborating with the government to cement tourism as a critical area of growth in new jobs and innovation.”
