True Women's Fitness and Wellbeing to launch revolutionary new weight loss solution

Manakau health club True Women's Fitness and Wellbeing is to offer a unique weight loss solution to members with a new program that simply addresses the psychology of weight loss.

True Women's Fitness and Well-Being owner Claire Dobson believes that while most people know that they should eat less and exercise more, they generally don't have the right mindset to succeed in their activity and lifestyle goals.

She explains "having the right mindset will help you to start and keep going.

"The right mindset will help you take the knock backs and disappointments on the chin and start all over again ...and to stay consistent through thick and thin.

"For many years we've struggled to keep our clients motivated and on track long term with their diets and lifestyle changes.

"During the course of 2013 we completed a study into exercise and motivation in conjunction with Tamasin Taylor from University of Auckland.

"This study provided many proofs to our theories about maintaining motivation through having the correct mindset."

Introducing True Women's Fitness and Well-Being's new 'Escape Your Weight' program, Dobson explains "our main aim is to address not only exercise and nutritional prescription, but also the underlying psychological issues that prevent people from achieving their weight loss and exercise goals."

In developing the program, Dobson teamed up with Dr Jutta Humpfer, a clinical psychologist who has a special interest in the psychology of weight loss.

Dr Humpfer explains "in my experience Kiwis are reluctant to see psychologists because of the stigma attached and also the cost involved. That's why during the 'Escape Your Weight' program we will not be spending vast amount of time on psycho-analysing people or regressing them to childhood or anything like that!

"We will instead be providing real life, practical tools and learning for people and this will all be delivered in a non-threatening group scenario.

"In our program we teach such skills as - why the wrong mindset inevitably ends in failure, how to eliminate dieting fads and yo-yo diets, how to succeed with any sensible diet and how to maintain a healthy weight forever.

"We deliver the program in one hour sessions, once a week for six weeks. Everything we offer here is educational, it is not intended as psychological therapy."

The 'Escape Your Weight' program and starts at True Women's Fitness and Well-Being on 24th February .
