Townsville City Council commits to its entertainment and sporting events

Townsville City Council is committed to building the region into a sustainable destination that actively participates in the arts, sports and events

Events and projects to receive funding include The Dunn Cup 2024 Lawn Bowls Tournament, the running of the Townsville Museum and Historical Society, the operation of international student organisation Study Townsville, and the running of popular culture event Townsville Pop Fest 2024.

Mayor Troy Thompson said Council was proud to support local events and organisations for the betterment of the city adding "Council is committed to building Townsville into a sustainable destination that actively participates in the arts, sports and events, and supporting local organisations through grants and partnerships is one way we can uphold this commitment.

"We have awarded $16,522.69 through our Community Grants and multi-year funding of $83,875.12 through our Community Organisation Partnerships and $10,829.36 worth of fee waivers through our Economic Activation Partnerships.

"Council's commitment towards providing grants and partnerships reflects its vision to grow Townsville into a vibrant city that is centred around inclusive and connected neighbourhoods."
