Tourism Industry Council South Australia welcomes government financial support

South Australia’s peak tourism body, the Tourism Industry Council South Australia (TiCSA), has welcomed today’s announcement by the South Australian Government of a $5.7 million financial support package for local tourism operators and events.

TiCSA Chief Executive, Shaun de Bruyn, said this package will help to save many tourism businesses and jobs across the state advising “the impacts of the summer bushfires and COVID-19 crisis have hit our tourism operators extremely hard and businesses are doing their best to survive.

“Any support that the government can provide is welcomed and will help to alleviate the significant financial stress that these businesses are currently facing.”

To further help tourism businesses survive and adapt, TiCSA has collaborated with various industry experts to deliver a suite of online business development opportunities.

So far, 150 tourism businesses have registered to take part in these opportunities which include videos, webinars, virtual workshops and networking events.

De Bruyn added “at TiCSA, we have responded to our members needs by offering a range of online training and development opportunities to help businesses navigate these challenging times and plan for the future.”

The newest addition to the suite is a self-guided course delivered by business specialists - Effektiver and Best Solutions International.

The self-guided course, which was launched this week, focusses on building business and personal resilience amid COVID-19, as well as crisis-proofing for the future.

De Bruyn also advised that “the great thing about this course is that it’s self-guided enabling business to work through the content in their own time and at their own pace.

“Another benefit is that it allows businesses to learn from one another and form new partnerships which will help them to build a sustainable future.”
