Tourism Australia Changes leave Top Jobs Vacant
Tourism Australia has announced a series of structural change to its management team to align itself to the 2020 Tourism Industry Potential plan launched at the Directions Conference in Canberra in November 2010.
As a result, the Executive General Manager for International, Richard Beere, will be leaving Tourism Australia after more than 20 years with the organisation. The Head of Corporate Services, Grant le Loux, will work on some key projects for Tourism Australia and be replaced in his current role. While Rachel Crowley (Corporate Communications) and Matt Cameron Smith (Industry Development and Trade Marketing) have recently announced their departures from TA for new opportunities.
The 2020 Industry Potential looked at a range of scenarios for growth of the tourism industry over the next decade. TA says the changes will help the tourism body direct more money into talking to consumers, improving capability in digital marketing and distribution, and forming stronger partnerships with the States and Territories, airlines, international distribution and Australian industry.
It will also allow Tourism Australia to play a role in helping find new investment in Australian tourism infrastructure.
Key changes include adding research under the Consumer Marketing team to ensure they have the strongest possible understanding of the consumer they need to target and create the right messages to reach them. The International Operations will be renamed Marketing Operations with business events falling under this category. The Industry Development team will be named Destination Development focusing on investment attraction while continuing to run trade events, work to bring Indigenous tourism operators to market and partner with Parks Australia on the National Landscapes initiative.
These changes create vacancies at the executive level. The roles of General Manager, Corporate Services, General Manager, Destination Development and General Manager, Corporate Affairs and Strategy will be advertised next week and filled in the coming months.
