Tough Mudder entities enter administration

The German and UK based operations of endurance race operator Tough Mudder has gone into administration, with a view to selling the business and assets, including its wholly owned subsidiary, Tough Mudder GmbH, as a going concern.

With BM Advisory LLP appointed as Joint Administrators of Tough Mudder Ltd on 24th January they are continuing to trade the business with all currently scheduled 2020 events in the UK and Germany are currently still going ahead.

However, US and Canadian events are not currently listed to take place and are subject to the outcome of court proceedings in those countries.

Tickets already purchased for 2020 events remain valid, and those purchased during the Administration trading period will be subject to Tough Mudder’s refund policy if a scheduled event is cancelled.

The Administrators will be writing to all known creditors to formally advise them of the appointment, and to provide the necessary appointment documentation.

Gordon Brothers, working on the sale of the businesses on behalf of BM Advisory, describe the company as a “well-known endurance events business” and say there is an opportunity to acquire Tough Mudder’s tangible assets and some of its intellectual property, including customer list and websites.

In the USA, Tough Mudder Bootcamp, the HIIT and functional fitness workout concept aligned with the business, has announced the appointment of a new Chief Executive to drive the franchise brand’s expansion plans.

Britt Canady, a former multi-unit franchisee and Vice President of Strategy for Tough Mudder Bootcamp, is now serving Tough Mudder Bootcamp as Chief Executive to steer growth for existing and prospective franchisees, including the Area Representative program and expanded franchise growth in priority markets.

Tough Mudder's Australian operations, which are believed to operate as an independent licensee, are still promoting events across the country in 2020.

Speaking on behalf of Tough Mudder Australia, Adam Brunes of PR agency Aruga advised "I am happy to report that Tough Mudder Australia returns in 2020, with the full season on sale now (and) as the brand celebrates its 10th anniversary, we’ve got some big things in store for Australia."
