Adelaide and Perth events removed from Tough Mudder 2015 schedule
The popular Tough Mudder adventure/obstacle race will not be returning to Adelaide and Perth in 2015.
With some participants having registered for an open ticket for Tough Mudder Australia events in 2015, an announcement that the Perth and Adelaide events would not be proceeding was briefly published on the organisation’s website, stating that the decision "was not made lightly" and followed "several months of review".
The move has attraced extensive criticism on social media from disappointed competitors, especially those that had already paid their 'early bird' registration fee.
In a statement, Tough Mudder Australia Commercial Manager Paul Mudge stated “all Mudders that purchased an 'open 2015 ticket' … are all eligible for a full refund or a free transfer to any Tough Mudder event in 2015."
Tough Mudder will still hold events in South East Queensland, Melbourne and Perth during the year with Mudge adding that he was hopeful the events would return to Adelaide and Perth in the "near future".
Last year, more than 10,000 people participated in Tough Mudder’s event in Western Australia. In 2013, more than 15,000 took part.
The adventure, multisport and obstacle has been become increasingly competitive in the past 18 months, with a range of event organisers in the market.
