Tokyo Disneyland to suspend its daily fireworks show this summer

Tokyo Disneyland has advised they won’t be entertaining guests with evening fireworks from 1st July to 18th September 2024.

Tokyo Disneyland’s firework display – ‘Sky Full of Colors’ is one of the highlights of visiting the theme park, coming on every evening at 8.30pm with the spectacular display lasting about five minutes and synchronised to iconic Disney tunes.

Tokyo Disney Resort debuted ‘Sky Full of Colors’ for its 40th anniversary in early 2023, presenting a “dream-filled moment at the park after dark.”

This suspension is not a one-off event as it happens annually every summer.

While Tokyo Disney has yet to release an official statement explaining the suspension, speculation is that it may be related to non-ideal weather, especially the wind direction.

It can be as little as a 5km wind in the wrong direction that causes cancellation of a show due to the fallout zone.

Comments across social media from unhappy guests call for a better back up plan if Tokyo Disney continues to cancel its firework displays.
