Tokyo Disneyland and DisneySea attribute special events for boosting profits in 35th Anniversary year

Events held at Tokyo Disneyland and DisneySea theme parks to celebrate their 35th Anniversary attracted more than 32 million visitors and according to Tokyo Disney Resort operator Oriental Land, contributed to their record full-year earnings and revenue.

The profit for the fiscal year ending in March came in at $1.2 billion, up 16%, while revenue rose nearly 10% to $4.7 billion.

Combined attendance at Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea reached an all-time high of 32.6 million, up nearly 2.5 million from the previous year and topping the 30th-anniversary-year performance. Since opening, the resort has attracted more than 750 million visiors. The resort posted improved revenue in all sectors, including hotels, merchandise, food and drinks.

Oriental Land predicts a 9% decline in revenue and 28% drop in earnings for the current fiscal year due to the absence of major events such as the 35th anniversary celebrations and related merchandise sales.
