Massive new Sea Life Nagoya to open next to Legoland Japan
Management of Legoland Japan have confirmed that its new 2,000 metre² aquarium, Sea Life Nagoya, is to open on 15th April.
Containing 11 display zones and about 2,000 sea creatures of representing around 100 species, the development will also include a new 252-room hotel in the same building - scheduled to open on 28th April.
Sea Life Nagoya’s centrepiece is an 8.2 metre-long tunnel taking guests into the Ryugujo (undersea palace) zone beneath a tank containing sharks and other marine life native to Japan’s shores.
The zone is themed so visitors can think of themselves as being Urashima Taro, a popular Japanese folk hero who travels to an underwater realm.
Other areas include a rock pool where people can touch starfish and sea cucumbers, and the Kisogawa zone, which exhibits carp and turtles.
Looking forward to the opening, Legoland Japan President Torben Jensen stated “we want children from all over the world to come to Nagoya and make unforgettable memories.”
