Tokyo Disney visitor numbers on the increase
Tokyo Disney Resort has reported that the combined attendance at Tokyo Disneyland Park and Tokyo DisneySea Park during the financial first half of 2010 (1st April to 30th September) totalled 12,954,000 visitors.
This equates to a 5.3% increase (653,000 people) over the figure for the same period last year, and is the resort's second highest attendance for the first half of a fiscal year.
Disney attributes the increase to various factors, such as the new Tokyo Disneyland special event, Disney's Easter Wonderland, and the Tokyo DisneySea Spring Carnival, which was held for the last time.
As a result of the new additions, attendance during the first quarter was higher than last year for the same period.
In the second quarter, despite record-breaking summer temperatures and bad weather during the second half of September, the summer's watershows at both parks, plus the return of the Captain EO attraction, kept attendances at around the same level as last year.
Continuing its emphasis on special events, both resorts will be staging Halloween and Christmas experiences.
