Timbertown Heritage Park sold
Wauchope's heritage theme park, Timbertown, has officially been sold.
The Port Macquarie Hastings Council says contracts for the sale of the park were exchanged at the beginning of March and are expected to be settled on 1st June.
The decision to sell the park followed lengthy community consultation and it is hoped it will ensure the future of Timbertown.
Council administrator Garry Payne says the council negotiated a sale price of almost $1.6 million which was the best price possible in the current economic climate.
Payne says proceeds from the sale will be used within the Wauchope area and most likely help fund the upgrade of the Wauchope Public Pool.
Set in 87 acres of natural forest, Timbertown is an authentic heritage township, built to demonstrate the struggles and achievements of Australiaâs pioneers.
It features a steam train, timber mill, a working bullock train, numerous retailers and an events centre.
Since opening in 1976, approximately two million people have visited what is considered by many to be one of Australia's finest heritage parks.
