Tickets set to go on sale for returning Singapore Formula 1 Grand Prix
Having not been held since 2019, tickets are set to go on sale as of tomorrow for Singapore’s Formula 1 Grand Prix.
The famous night race will return this season for the first time in two years, following race promoter Singapore GP having signed a multi-year deal in January to keep F1 coming in the city.
Set to be held from 30th September to 2nd October, the 17th stop of the season will see Singapore GP work with the Singapore Government to ensure the event will adhere to safety measures.
Cancelled for the last two years due to the Coronavirus pandemic, in 2019, the last time the race was held in Singapore, the three days of racing drew a total of 268,000 spectators - the highest attendance since the 300,000 total attracted by the debut of the event in 2008.
The Singapore race is also known for its additional entertainment provisions across the weekend, with organisers set to announce the entertainment line-up in the coming weeks. Previous performers include Rihanna, Dua Lipa, Ariana Grande, The Killers and Linkin Park.
With the Russian Grand Prix in Sochi cancelled following that nation’s invasion of Ukraine, speculation has emerged in recent days suggesting that Singapore could stage a second race this year.
With F1 committed to a 23-race calendar, the gap created by the termination of Sochi’s race - scheduled for 25th September - could see races staged on consecutive weekends at the Marina Bay Street Circuit.
