Tickets for AFLW Grand Final sell out in hours

The 2022 AFLW Grand Final at Springfield's 8000-capacity Brighton Homes Arena has been sold out, with all tickets for the weekend game being snapped up just hours after going on sale on Monday.

With ticket prices for the 2022 season decider frozen at $10 for adults and with free entry for children, demand for the first competitive fixture at the new $80 million facility has been high.

The Brisbane Lions secured the right to host the fixture at their new headquarters in Springfield after winning their preliminary final.

Commenting on the fixture, AFL Executive General Manager of Customer and Commercial, Kylie Rogers stated "we have had a unique year, two seasons, four new clubs and now we are set up for an epic Grand Final contest between two of most successful clubs in the NAB AFLW competition’s short history.

“Hosting the game in Queensland will be a great spectacle, at a brand-new purpose-built facility and come Sunday afternoon a NAB AFLW Grand Final event worthy of celebrating everything Season Seven between the best two teams all season.”

Fans purchasing tickets for the Grand Final will also receive a free AFLW digital collectible through Ticketmaster.

The ticketing platform has delivered digital collectibles to fans of the NFL in the USA, and is now implementing the technology in Australia for the first time.

After fans have purchased their tickets, they will receive a link to redeem their virtual commemorative AFLW Grand Final digital collectible.

Introducing this benefit, Rogers added “this exclusive and Australian first experience offers a unique engagement opportunity to delight fans before the match has even started and is another great example of how AFL and Ticketmaster are working together to create a one-of-a-kind fan experience.

Ticketmaster Australia Managing Director, noted “we are beyond excited to be at the forefront of implementing digital collectibles into the ticketing experience in Australia. We have created a simplified process so getting a digital collectible is as easy as purchasing a ticket. Anyone can do it, and AFLW fans will be the first to experience these free collectibles, capturing memories that last well beyond the final siren.”

The Grand Final, taking place on Sunday (27th November) is being played at the Brighton Homes Arena as Brisbane's Gabba is unavailable due to cricket while the Gold Coast's Metricon Stadium, which hosted the preliminary final between Brisbane and Adelaide, is also unavailable due to a festival.

The turf at the venue was given the tick of approval during the week by experts, meaning the game can go ahead. The venue still needs some finishing touches applied before Sunday including the installation of its video scoreboard, interchange benches and other match day infrastructure.

Located 28 kilometres south-west of Brisbane in the City of Ipswich, Brighton Homes Arena  is the Lions administration centre following the club’s relocation from the Gabba last month.
