Thailand's Kamalaya wellness sanctuary secures array of wellness awards in 2022

Wellness sanctuary and holistic spa, Kamalaya Koh Samui in Thailand, has secured several international awards, making 2022 its most celebrated year to date.

At the inaugural Spa and Wellness Awards hosted at a gala event in Brisbane on 27th November 2022, the Koh Samui sanctuary was named ‘Best Wellness Retreat and Resort’ by an industry judging panel, and ‘Best Wellness Retreat’ as voted by more than 6,000 public consumers. The 2022 Spa and Wellness Awards were held to recognise businesses and people excelling in the spa, health, beauty and wellness travel space and included 38 awards across six major categories.

At the Destination Deluxe 2022, which took place in Bangkok on Monday 28th November, Embracing Change was declared ‘Wellness Program of the Year’. Embracing Change is the first of Kamalaya's wellness programs to focus on exploring one's inner life and emotional disposition. Spanning 22 categories and evaluated by 17 judges who are all well-respected industry experts, the prestigious Destination Deluxe awards celebrate the hotels, spas, treatments, skincare and wellness brands that drive the remarkable luxury standard of these industries.

These latest wins follow a host of international award recognition for Kamalaya this year. Most recently the King Power Thailand International Business Awards, organised by the British Chamber of Commerce Thailand (BCCT), recognised Kamalaya’s ongoing efforts to support sustainability in the ‘Corporate Social Responsibility’ award category.

Earlier this year, the 35th annual Condé Nast Traveller Reader's Choice Awards 2022 placed Kamalaya Koh Samui at No. 4 in the category ‘Best Spa in the World’ and No. 5 in the category ‘Top 48 Destination Spas in the World’. This year, over 240,000 Condé Nast Traveller readers shared their recent travel knowledge of the world’s top hotels, resorts, cities, countries, islands, spas and more.  

Starting the year of record wins, Kamalaya received for the fourth time the honour of being named ‘Worldwide Health & Wellness Destination of the Year’ at the World Spa & Wellness Awards 2022 in London. This is the sixth time Kamalaya has been recognised by these prestigious awards, having won ‘Destination Spa of the Year – Asia & Australasia’ in 2012 and 2014 and ‘Worldwide Health & Wellness Destination of the Year’ in 2017, 2018 and 2020.
