Tenpin Bowling National Championships return to Hobart
Zone Bowling in Moonah is currently playing host to the 59th Tenpin Bowling National Championships - this being the first time since 2006 that the National Championships have been hosted in Tasmania, and only the fourth time since the event’s inception in 1962.
This year’s event will see both the Junior and Adult National Championships, as well as the Australian Masters, with elite and aspiring elite players participating.
Five major events have been scheduled to take place between 19th July and 15th August.
The Tasmanian Government through Events Tasmania has committed a total of $395,000 over three years in funding for the Australian National Championships
Tasmania Minister for Hospitality and Events, Sarah Courtney notes “Tasmania is recognised nationally and internationally for delivering a range of events, reinforcing our strong brand and providing significant economic and social benefits to our State.
“While recent COVID-19 restrictions have impacted a number of participants in this year’s championships, the competition is still looking healthy for those attending the COVIDSafe event.
“I hope all the competitors enjoy their visit to Tasmania, and take the time to get out and about and sample our excellent hospitality venues which will provide a boost to the local economies.”
