10 tennis courts to be upgraded in South Australia
10 tennis courts in the City of Norwood Payneham and St Peters are set to be upgraded in 2020.
Two grants totalling $825,000 have been provided to the Council by the South Australia Government to upgrade four courts at Buttery Reserve and six courts at Payneham Oval, with construction of the Payneham Oval courts set to commence in early 2020.
Mayor Robert Bria advised “this grant funding is a great result for the community. We are now able to upgrade these important sporting facilities and increase their lifespan so they are fit to be used for at least another 20 years. The Council hopes this will encourage more people to have a go at tennis, as well as improve the facilities for the tennis clubs and their members.
“The Council is delighted that both the Norwood Tennis Club and East Adelaide Payneham Tennis Club can continue to call local facilities their home and is pleased that we can continue to work together to maintain these valuable community assets.”
The grants have been provided by the South Australian Government’s Office for Recreation, Sport and Racing’s 2019/20 Community Recreation and Sport Facilities Program.
