Temporary closure of Hobart Aquatic Centre for critical pool repairs
The waterslide, tipping bucket, leisure pool and 25 metre recreational pool at the Doone Kennedy Hobart Aquatic Centre will be out of action for three days next week to allow for critical repairs to be carried out on a major inlet pipe.
The warm water pools and water fun facilities will be closed from Monday 5th February, and are scheduled to re-open on Thursday 8th February.
During the works the 50 metre lap pool will be temporarily divided into two 25 metre lap pools, with a designated play area for competent swimmers.
The repairs have been timed to be completed before the start of this year’s learn-to-swim lessons, which start on Tuesday 13th February, and after the popular School Holiday Splash activities.
The Centre’s 25 metre pool is used for aquatic exercises such as water walking, water aerobics classes and water therapy as well as by beginner lap swimmers.
The leisure pool is popular with families who enjoy the ‘Splash and Play’ zone, and which is home to the Centre’s much-loved ‘tipping bucket’, a giant waterslide and other water features that create a safe and welcoming environment for young swimmers.
As well as being the home of Tasmania’s only competition standard dive pool, a leisure pool, a 25 metre pool and a 50 metre pool, the facility also gives members access to a spa, sauna and steam room as well as personal training and gym facilities.
