Teenager pleads guilty to role in deadly Sydney Royal Easter Show brawl
A boy who allegedly came to the aid of a 17-year-old who was fatally stabbed during a brawl at this year’s Sydney Royal Easter Show has pleaded guilty to two offences.
The Parramatta Children's Court was told by NSW Police yesterday that the youth produced a 10cm folding knife as he came to the aid of Uati 'Pele' Faletolu, who was being attacked.
Faletolu later died from stab wounds.
The Court heard the 15-year-old caused witnesses at the scene to fear for their safety.
The 15-year-old, who was arrested at the scene in April, was charged with affray, carrying a knife in a public place and being armed with intent to commit an indictable offence.
According to Court documents, he pleaded guilty to the first two charges, but not the third.
The 15-year-old boy was excused from attending the brief hearing at Parramatta Children's Court where his strict bail conditions were extended.
Felatolu who worked for one of the Show's ride operators, was stabbed in the chest and another 16-year-old boy sustained leg injuries during the fight, which broke out in the carnival area at the Sydney Showground on 10th April.
NSW Police have yet to identify the killer despite trawling through hours of CCTV and mobile footage of the incident.
The 15-year-old’s case has been adjourned until 21st June.
No other arrests have been made.
