Tasmania Parks and Wildlife Service calls for tenders for Mt Mawson shelter

The Tasmania Parks and Wildlife Service has called for tenders for the construction of a new public shelter at Mt Mawson within Mount Field National Park.

The new shelter will incorporate two new buildings to be built on the site of the former lodge that was removed due to its deteriorating condition.

The buildings will provide a public shelter and toilet facilities for walkers, skiers, and snowboarders, in addition to providing ski patrol and first aid facilities for the Southern Tasmanian Ski Association.

The existing temporary shelter will remain in place until the new buildings are complete to provide facilities and shelter throughout the coming winter, with construction expected to be completed during the summer period.

Tenders close at2pm on Tuesday 11th April 2017.
