Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre to host 2026 Australian Swimming Trials
The Australian Swimming Trials for selection for the 2026 Commonwealth Games and 2026 Pan Pacific Championships teams are returning to NSW and are being held at Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre from 7th-13th June 2026.
Australia’s top and rising stars will then return to SOPAC in late September for the 2026 Australian Short Course Championships, with the support of the NSW Government, through the NSW Office of Sport.
The partnership between the NSW Government and Swimming Australia features a range of development activities to ensure the benefits of NSW hosting the event are felt beyond the pool, including clinics, camps and workshops.
Swimming Australia Chief Executive Rob Woodhouse said the return to Sydney for both major National events was an exciting development for the sport and noted “Athletes, coaches and fans have so many fond memories of our sport at SOPAC and we’re thankful to the NSW Government and the Office of Sport for providing the support that brings us back to Sydney.
“NSW represents our largest swimming participation community and working alongside Swimming NSW, we can showcase our sport and inspire the next generation of swimmers and swimming fans alike.”
NSW Minister for Sport Steve Kamper added "NSW has the highest participation in swimming in the nation, and I am delighted that Sydney will host the Australian Swimming Trials and Australian Short Course Championships.
"This provides a critical foundation to ensure success at a national and international level and forms an important part of the talent pathway for elite and up and coming swimmers."
Swimming NSW Chief Executive Kirsten Thomson shared "Swimming NSW is incredibly proud to welcome the 2026 Australian Swimming Trials to our home state, and we are grateful to the NSW Government for their support and investment in our vision.
"This is a win for all our NSW swimming participants, swimmers, coaches, officials and for the future of our sport.
"Bringing events of this calibre to NSW not only showcases world-class athletes but also provides a powerful opportunity to inspire the next generation of swimmers right here in our own backyard.
"Having these events in NSW means our members will now have greater access to witness Australia's best in action without the barriers of interstate travel.
"It ensures our entire community can feel more connected to national events."
