Swimming Australia undertakes stakeholder survey

Looking to review the impact of its 2021-2032 Strategy (Swimming 2032 - Our Decade of Opportunity), Swimming Australia has opened a stakeholder survey, inviting input in assessing its success and in driving the organisation's direction and activities between 2025 and 2028 and on to the Brisbane Olympics and Paralympics.

Reviewing the impact of the current Swimming 2032 strategy between its launch and now, McLaughlin Sports Consultancy has been engaged to independently guide the strategy refresh process.

Introducing the survey process, McLaughlin Sports Consultancy Managing Director, Mike McLaughlin advised “a really important element of the 2032 Strategy refresh process is for key Swimming Australia stakeholders (e.g. Swimming Australia board directors and staff; member organisation board directors and staff; regional/district association committee members; club committee members; swimmers; parents of junior swimmers (under 15 years); coaches; technical officials; other volunteers and stakeholders) to complete this short e-Survey.

“The survey should take 10-20 minutes to complete (depending on the depth of your responses) and the information you provide will be a very important contribution to guiding Swimming Australia's future direction and activities.”

McLaughlin emphasised that “all information you provide when completing the survey will remain anonymous and will only be used by McLaughlin Sports Consultancy for the purpose of guiding the development of the refreshed Swimming Australia Strategy.

“The survey is designed to be completed by relevant stakeholders aged 15 years and over - In the case of junior stakeholders, we encourage parents/caregivers to complete the survey with/for the junior.”

The survey must be completed by midnight Wednesday 23rd October 2024.

Swimming’s Community Impact
A 2020 impact study from Swimming Australia found that the sport has a total economic and community impact of over $3.7 billion per annum, which includes a community health impact of $135 million per year and a $4.35 billion lifetime health contribution.

The independent national study, funded with the support of Australian Sports Commission, was completed by experienced management consultants Sport Business Partners and Street Ryan. It was aimed at better understanding the broader community benefits of competitive and social swimming - across each of economic, social and health impacts.

The impact of Swimming Australia's governaance changes are to be explored in a feature in Australasian Leisure Management issue 165 - to be released in December.
