Surfees Swim School Hits Record Numbers
Blacktown Leisure Centre, Stanhope's 'Surfees Swim School' has hit a record number of enrolments for its learn to swim program - an astounding 3,550 students.
Since opening in early 2003, Surfees Swim School has conducted over 136,000 learn to swim classes and taught close to 600,000 participants of all ages and abilities, in a variety of programs and levels.
Surfees Swim School started its first term six years ago with 19 Austswim qualified instructors â now there are 47 instructors teaching over 700 classes each week.
Surfees Swim School has always set out to provide the highest quality learn to swim program around and has been recognised as NSW Swim School of the Year in 2004 and 2007, as well as scooping the National Swim School of the Year award in 2008.
Blacktown Leisure Centre, Stanhope has received many compliments and commendations from happy parents whose children have and are learning a skill for life.
Cathy Wunsch is one such parent. She says "all the staff at the Centre are so pleasant, helpful and cheerful, and all the instructors provide such positive encouragement to help the kids excel. It is a delight to go there."
Mayor of Blacktown City, Councillor Charlie Lowles, sees Surfees Swim School as one of Council's many success stories.
Mayor Lowles explains "Council is extremely proud of Blacktown Leisure Centre, Stanhope and its team of dedicated staff.
"These record numbers highlight the Centre's commitment to provide quality learn to swim programs for the local community, and confirm the Centreâs commitment to going above and beyond."
