Supplier Directory Profile: PolySoft at play In Qatar’s newest resort
A seamless fit for aquatic environments, PolySoft was the material of choice for pool areas at a prestigious new resort in Qatar.
Opened in January, the Anantara Group’s latest luxury resort at Banana Island off the coast of Qatar’s capital, Doha, incorporates a wave pool for adults and a children’s play area, both surrounded by PolySoft slip-resistant surfaces.
Tamer Mortada, of Play+ Qatar, the company that laid the surfaces, and which recommended the use of PolySoft explains that Qatar’s “extreme weather conditions of high temperatures and high humidity demanded a durable, high-quality product.”
Ensuring guests’ safety as they enjoy spectacular amenities in a beautiful setting, PolySoft’s Splash surface, applied at Banana Island here in colours of Blue, Alabaster and Arctic White, sits easily with the sparkling turquoise waters of this coastal location.
Softer and cooler than other surfaces, it’s comfortable underfoot and protective against falls and, with its specially developed two-part aliphatic polyurethane binder, coupled with colourfast technology, is protected against premature fading.
PolySoft’s Splash surface also provides excellent resistance to degradation due to chemicals such as chlorine, which are commonly used in aquatic playgrounds such as these.
Banana Island Doha (pictured below) required some 375 metre² of wet-area surround with 10 workers having to bring materials via a 20-minute boat ride to the island, level the concrete site and pour the PolySoft to a thickness of eight to 10 millimetres — a project that took six days to complete.
Mortada adds “the client is totally satisfied,” with the effect and the utility of the surface, which is seamless, hygienic and easy to maintain.
PolySoft Chief Executive Ophelia Zhu concludes “this project shows the holiday face of PolySoft: it’s fun, while being discreetly and reliably safe.
“Its appeal, as shown by these two applications in the one resort, is ageless.”
PolySoft also cushions landings in high-profile children’s precincts from Singapore to Manhattan, and back to Canberra.
An Australian-developed and produced product, PolySoft is 100% recyclable and derives 40% its materials from natural resources.
