Sunshine Coast promotion to focus on attractions and events
A new joint venture between Sunshine Coast Destination Ltd (SCDL) and Australia Zoo, marks the start of a deeper level of promotion for Sunshine Coast attractions and events to Australian and international travellers.
As a first step, a co-branded billboard has been unveiled targeting the 75,000 vehicles that travel to and from the Brisbane Domestic and International Airports daily. The billboard will combine the promotion of Australia Zoo with 13 different events in the Sunshine Coast region.
Through the new partnership, SCDL and Australia Zoo aim to make the Sunshine Coast one of Australia’s premier destinations for attractions and events.
Introducing the partnership, SCDL Chief Executive Simon Ambrose said the regional tourism organisation was pleased to deepen its existing relationship with Australia Zoo, the region’s largest tourist attraction.
Ambrose stated “events and attractions bring the region to life and play a vital role in attracting visitors and supporting the region’s $2.5 billion tourism industry.
“Australians and international travelers generally know about the Sunshine Coast’s beaches and increasingly the Hinterland areas, but we also have a dynamic range of attractions that make the region ideal for tourists and conference groups. Australia Zoo’s extensive collection of exotic and Australian wildlife is a great way of highlighting this.
“Each billboard will be designed to get people talking. This initiative is just one component of SCDL’s leveraging campaign that promotes the great events portfolio that has been secured by the Sunshine Coast Council Tourism and Events levy. We want to be attracting the attention of every traveller who passes through Brisbane Airport and remind them that there is always something new and different to experience on the Sunshine Coast.”
Welcoming the agreement, Terri Irwin, Owner of Australia Zoo added “it's important to work together to better showcase our spectacular Sunshine Coast and the many exciting events visitors can experience here.
“From the breathtaking natural beauty, to our incredible wildlife, sport, and fabulous festivals, we are proud to be sharing this innovative marketing strategy with SCDL.”
