Successful launches build excitement for Regional Games

Three event launches across Australia have generated massive interest for the forthcoming Regional University Games, hosted in July by Australian University Sport (AUS).
To kick-start the Games, AUS launched the events in the NSW towns of Lismore and, Tamworth and at Latrobe City, Victoria for the Northern, Eastern and Southern University Games respectively.
The three launches included sporting demonstrations of tennis and basketball, combined with guest speakers from the local councils and event volunteers gave attendees a small taste of what is still yet to come.
AUS Media and Marketing Coordinator Lisa Konig declared the three launches a "rousing success", adding ï¾the three launches went smoothly and allowed the attendees to experience first-hand what the Unigames are about.
"The launches have generated excitement in the local communities and many are anticipating the arrival of the Games."
Students competing in the Regional Games, held in the first week of July, will contest 16 sports.
The Games are renowned for providing a friendly but competitive environment for Australia's university and TAFE students.
The Games incorporate student and community engagement and each event provides significant economic impact and opportunities for the host city.
The Regional Games are the precursor to the Australian University Games, one of Australiaï¾s largest annual multi-sport events.
