Successful in Asia, Aquaspin prepares to enter Australia in 2017
Rising interest in aquatic exercise programs will see Singapore-based Aquaspin™ enter the Australian market in 2017, at StateSwim facilities in Adelaide.
Alicia Antonuccio, co-owner and instructor at Aquaspin™, brought Aquaspin cycling classes and equipment from Spain to Singapore two years ago and is now teaching the workout at a range of clubs across Singapore.
Bringing a new demographic to aqua fitness classes: younger adults, men, athletes, rehabilitating persons, Aquaspin programs are also offered at the Fairmont The Palm Hotel in Dubai.
Aquaspin provides a licensed model for hotels, fitness clubs, country clubs and aquatic centres to introduce its activity smoothly and successfully and to then partner the facility over the long term.
As Antonuccio explains "we provide a long term partnership not just an equipment sell".
Aquaspin involves exactly what the name suggests: participants, immersed in water up to the chest, pedalling stationary bikes submerged in the pool, combining the efficient principles of classical stationary indoor cycling with the healthy and soothing powers of water. Using the benefits of water, buoyancy and resistance, Aquaspin is soft on the joints and more efficient than land base stationary cycling - burning up to 800 calories an hour. Other benefits include reduction of cellulite, water retention, boosting blood flow and lymphatic drainage.
Aquaspin offers:
• Coach certification (accredited and recognised by Fitness Australia, REPS and American Council on Exercise) for staff to not only understand the equipment but to also teach them the skill sets to deliver motivating sessions
• Five different programs to cater for the needs of a wide range of clients - from mums to be to athletes.
• Help source the best bikes on the market at the best price
• Ongoing program and music support (with bi-monthly choreography and playlist provided)
• Branding and marketing support
• Intellectual property rights
Antonuccio, who describes herself as an “aqua biking addict”, adds “we are owners and therefore we think like owners.
“Our programs and equipment have been designed by a highly reputable and accredited Master Trainer, not in a glass office with no adaption to the riders, and we have tested the programs on our international clients to make sure Aquaspin™ meets their demands and to ensure long term success of the activity."
Aquaspin’s success at Fairmont The Palm in Dubai saw the landmark property initially take on an Aquaspin license with two classes.
The quality and the energy of the program was such a big hit that three months later they had 17 classes on schedule.
Participants in Aquaspin classes range in age from 17 to over 70, with Antonuccio seeing that Aquaspin is revolutionising the perception of aqua, commenting "aqua is not only for your grandma - it can be fun, and super challenging.
“We trained US Marines in Singapore and they were completely knocked down after 30 minutes!"
Antonuccio concludes “while the investment in Aquaspin might seem large at first, the return on investment of having something unique, that attracts new demographics and delivers remarkable health and fitness benefits.
“Our classes are booming and facilities that get ahead of the curve and introduce this Aquaspin are already achieving 300% ROI.”
