Strengthening presence in Asia Ticketmaster announces part acquisition of Thai Ticket Major

Ticketmaster has announced a part acquisition of Bangkok, Thailand-based ticketing agency Thai Ticket Major (TTM), furthers the Live Nation company’s goal of bringing its ticketing platform to more markets, allowing the company to better service the growing global live events industry.

Ticketmaster sees Thailand as having a thriving live entertainment market across all major genres - music, sports, musical theatre and family events - and with artists travelling more of the world to play to their expanding global fan bases, 90% of western tours in Asia route through Bangkok. Thailand also has a strong regional market especially for K-Pop and Japanese talent.

Boasting several world-class venues and significant fan demand for live entertainment, the Thai market is primed for the rapid adoption of digital ticketing which Ticketmaster will deliver. Event promotors and artists will be able to take advantage of Ticketmaster’s world-class suite of industry-leading products and digital ticketing tools all built with the fan in mind.

Announcing the part acquisition, Ticketmaster President, Mark Yovich stated “Thailand’s live entertainment industry has seen immense growth over the past few years. As we join with Thai Ticket Major, Ticketmaster will enhance the nation’s ticketing experience, bringing event organisers, venues and fans across the country an unrivalled level of service and experience.”

Current Managing Director of Thai Ticket Major, Komkrit Sirirat, will continue to lead the local team and be responsible for all Thai operations. Founded in 1999 by Tero Entertainment, Thai Ticket Major is currently the leading full-service ticketing company in Thailand and has operations elsewhere within the region.

Thai Ticket Major shareholder Brian Marcar, Managing Director of Tero Entertainment, noted “delivering a market leading ticketing solution has been at the heart of TTM for the last 23 years, so it was the natural next step for us to join the world’s leading ticketing company, Ticketmaster. Being part of Ticketmaster gives us the opportunity to elevate our ticketing solutions for Thailand’s premier venues and event creators as this market grows into one of the world’s premier live entertainment destinations.”

Vicha Poolvaraluck, Chairman, Major Cineplex Group Plc., added “as a long-term shareholder, over the last two decades we’ve worked extremely hard to build Thai Ticket Major with Tero Entertainment. Throughout this period, we’ve seen immense growth and today we stand very proud as we enter this new chapter with Ticketmaster which will enable us to elevate the business to the next level and continue to provide fans across Asia with the best ticketing technology and service.”

The announcement follows Ticketmaster’s recent moves in Asia, with the establishment of Ticketmaster Taiwan and Singapore in 2020. This growth firmly establishes Ticketmaster as a leader within the south east Asia market and helps support touring activity across the region.
