Sports Marketing Law at Melbourne Law School
The Melbourne Law School at the University of Melbourne has released details of an intensive Sports Marketing Law course, to be held from 12th to 16th September.
The course will be led by Hayden Opie, Director of Studies for the Melbourne Sports Law program and founder of the Australian and New Zealand Sports Law Association; and Craig Richards, Chief Operating Officer for Bicycle Victoria where he leads a team of 70. Craig has also worked as a lawyer.
This course will consider the legal aspects of sports marketing in Australia with attention paid to the different legal needs of key stakeholders in sport. A major theme will involve assessing the impact on the legal environment of sports marketing in an era of increased commercialisation and professionalism in sport and with significant change in the technology of communication and marketing.
It is ideal for those working in administration and marketing in the sport and leisure industry.

The Graduate Sports Law Program has been taught at Melbourne Law School for over 20 years and provides legal practitioners and professionals in the growing field of sport administration and management a valuable insight into this legal area. Available to both law and non-law graduates, the program's subjects are taught on an intensive basis by Australian and international experts who are leaders in their field to provide students with a real professional advantage.
Students must complete four subjects to obtain the Graduate Diploma in Sports Law and subjects can also be credited to other courses or undertaken on a single subject basis.
