Sports Environment Alliance to advance sustainability with Melbourne launch

A new Australasian-based not-for-profit organisation that aims to connect sport industry bodies with both environmental sustainability solution entities and the green technology sector companies is set to get its formal launch in Melbourne tomorrow.

Having existed as an informal network over several years, the Sports Environment Alliance Inc (SEA) while be launched at the MCG on Thursday 11th June by SEA Chairman Malcolm Speed and Executive Director Dr Sheila Nguyen.

The launch event, which will feature addresses by Speed and former AFL Chief Executive Andrew Demetriou (now of the Climate Institute) will present the SEA’s Foundation Members and introduce the platform from which the Alliance aims to protect the future of the spaces and places in which people play.

Currently targeting 12 Foundation members in its first year of operation, the SEA has already welcomed the following as Foundation Members: 

• The Melbourne Cricket Ground
• Greater Western Sydney FC
• Cricket Australia
• Netball Australia
• Australian Football League
•Tennis Australia.
