Sport Wellington, AMI up for Commercial Partnership award
Sport Wellington and AMI Insurance have been announced as finalists in the Commercial Partnership category of the 2013 New Zealand Sport and Recreation Awards.
These awards, organised by Sport New Zealand, recognise outstanding contributions to the sport and recreation sector at a national level.
Sport Wellington and AMI Insurance's joint application focused on the success of AMI Round the Bays as the marker of excellence, however the partnership runs much deeper than the event; the two parties have used the relationship to grow and develop their understanding of what a successful commercial partnership looks like.
AMI are now using the relationship approach they crafted with Sport Wellington for all their current and future major sponsorships. This means that the legacy of the partnership will extend for many years, across all of New Zealand sport and will strengthen AMI's partnership with Canterbury Rugby, Netball Auckland and North Harbour and NZ Rugby referees to name a few. Likewise Sport Wellington has also gained much from the relationship and now uses the partnership approach developed with AMI for all of their event properties.
Terry Harkin, AMI Insurance Area Manager Wellington explains "we are absolutely delighted to be a finalist. It is a fantastic partnership to be involved with and demonstrates AMI's commitment to building quality partnerships which deliver great community outcomes."
Sport Wellington and AMI are up against New Zealand Golf/BMW and New Zealand Rugby Union/AIG in the Commercial Partnership Category.
The judging panel comprises Olympian, coach and sports management consultant, Selwyn Maister; New Zealand Community Trust Chairman, Peter Dale; ANZ Head of Sponsorship, Sue McGregor; respected sport adminstrator, Sir John Wells; and Sport New Zealand Chief Executive, Peter Miskimmin.
