Sport Singapore continues to enhance its facilities

Sport Singapore (SportSG) has revealed the refreshed Sengkang Sport Centre, which includes new water slides, dedicated space for smaller-scale fitness activities, and new ambient lighting for evening programmes.

It is the first of four sport centres to undergo enhancements while remaining open to the public. These smaller-scale enhancements support the Sports Facilities Master Plan (SFMP), ensuring ActiveSG sport centres remain vibrant community spaces for people to come together and embrace active living. Similar enhancement works at Woodlands, Jurong East, and Clementi Sport Centres are currently underway and will be completed by 2026.

Tan Hock Leong, Chief, ActiveSG, SportSG notes “SportSG is committed to providing high-quality, community-friendly sporting facilities. Guided by people-centric design principles, we enhance these spaces to enable meaningful connections and experiences.

“We are committed to continually enhance our sport centres while minimising disruption, so visitors can stay active with ease. These smaller-scale enhancements refresh the look and feel of our sport centres before they undergo larger-scale renovations or redevelopments, with new and upgraded features for everyone to enjoy.”

Sengkang Sport Centre is the first of four ActiveSG sport centres to undergo a refresh. Its updated features include five new water slides at the swimming complex, offering varied experiences from gentle descents to thrilling multi-lane rides. There is also Active Groove, a dedicated space for smaller-scale fitness activities, such as Zumba and K-pop dance programmes. The addition of new ambient lighting at the sport centre enables programmes to extend well into the evenings.

Other sport centres to undergo enhancements include Ang Mo Kio Swimming Complex, with a new sheltered swimming pool and fitness spaces, is expected to be completed by end-2025. Queenstown Sport Centre, offering more free-to-play spaces and refurbished pool amenities, is also expected to be ready by end-2025. Hougang Sport Centre’s rejuvenation is set to be completed by 2026.

SportSG also continues to introduce new developments. They include the Punggol Regional Sport Centre which will serve one of Singapore’s fastest-growing residential areas. With completion planned for 2026, the centre will house sheltered tennis and futsal courts, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, as well as a 5,000-seater stadium.

These projects support SportSG’s broader SFMP goals to deliver quality infrastructure that cater to the diverse and evolving sporting needs, interests and aspirations of the community.
