Sport and Swim vouchers return for Northern Territory families

Families across the Northern Territory can apply for the next round of Sport and Learn to Swim Vouchers from 1st July, helping cover the cost of activities that keep children healthy, active and connected.

The NT Government is ensuring every school aged child aged five years and older, enrolled in an urban school in a Northern Territory school from Transition to Year 12, is eligible for a $100 sport voucher every six months. These vouchers can be used with more than 300 approved sport, recreation and cultural activity providers.

Families with children under the age of five can also access two $100 Learn to Swim Vouchers each year, supporting early access to water safety skills and participation in swim school programs.

NT Minister for People, Sport and Culture, Jinson Charls, said the program delivers meaningful cost of living relief for Territory families and helps young people stay active and engaged and added “we know the benefits of sport and active recreation go far beyond a playing field. These vouchers help families stay connected to the activities they love and support the Territory lifestyle we all love.

“Active participation in sport, recreation, cultural and swimming programs support our kids’ health and wellbeing, keeps them busy, and builds confidence, friendships and resilience along the way.”

The Northern Territory Government is investing over $4 million in 2025-26 to deliver Sport and Learn to Swim Vouchers in urban centres across the NT, with an additional $4.3 million for the Active Regional and Remote Communities Program (ARRCP) to support year-round sport, recreation and cultural programs in regional and remote areas.

In 2024-25, thousands of vouchers were redeemed through a wide range of Territory clubs and providers, with strong participation in swimming, dance and music.

Football NT alone saw over 810 vouchers redeemed, with high participation in Palmerston and Alice Springs.
