Splashhurst Community Pool reopens under CLM management
The 25 metre pool at the Ashhurst School has been reopened, with Palmerston North City Council having taken over its ownership and its management now the responsibility of contractor CLM.
Reopened as the Splashhurst Community Pool, the Ashhurst School has exclusive use of the facility between 10am to 1pm, Monday to Thursday, with the pool operating as a community facility during other operational hours.
The 25 metre pool has a depth starting at 1.05 metre and reaching over 1.4 metre at its deepest point, which allows for different fitness options such as lane swimming, low impact aqua classes and public fun.
CLM will be offering its award-winning SwimMagic Swim School with a variety of learning to swim classes, ranging from baby classes to adult swim lessons.
The pool closed more than a year ago with Palmerston North City Council announcing in December it was taking over the pool, with plans to refurbish and reopen it.
Over recent months, new showers have been installed, the heating and ventilation systems were upgraded and pools were re-sealed and re-painted.
During the refurbishment, the Council was frequently asked what would happen to the pool tiles inscribed with names of everyone who contributed to the fundraising to get it up and running 20 years ago.
These original tiles are now studded around the facility.
CLM also manage Palmerston North City Council's Lido and Freyberg Pool facilities.
