Splash pad opens at North Brisbane's Newmarket Pool

The long-awaited refurbishment of North Brisbane's Newmarket Pool is now partially complete with the recent opening of their Vortex Aquatic Playground Splashpad.

The Ocean-themed Splashpad features a massive tipping bucket, whale spray ring, sea horse cannons and a jelly-fish shaped water feature.

An ideal place to cool off as Brisbane's summer temperatures rise, the zero-depth facility gives children of all ages a unique water experience without the risk of drowning or injury.

Splashpads have become popular additions to parks, council-owned pool complexes and tourist destinations in Australia, as they are a cost-effective facility that draws in the crowds (especially when compared with traditional swimming pools).

Savings are made through:

Staff Costs: Lifeguards aren't needed due to the zero-depth nature of the pads

Power Use: the Splashpad system is run on an activator, which means if it's not being used, it's not running.

Reduced maintenance & chemical costs: minimal maintenance is required as the system is almost fully automated.

Savings can be further enhanced by increased guest numbers, longer on-site stays and additional ancillary purchases such as food and merchandise.

Other new facilities at the Newmarket site include an iPlaygrounds Pirate Ship-themed playground equipment and new waterslides which will complement the existing Olympic sized swimming pool, 25 metre covered heated pool for swimming lessons, a covered toddlers wading pool and the existing children's leisure pool with slides and water features.
